Michael Laudrup - new Spartak Moscow manager

It may seem like a strange appointment, Michael Laudrup being named as the new manager for Spartak Moscow, but when you look a little bit deeper it actually makes perfect sense. First of all, the Russian League has grown immensely where teams are now not only holding onto the top Russian players, but are also in competition to buy top players from other leagues. They also have brought in top coaches as well with Guss Hiddink managing the national team and Dick Advocaat managing Zenit St. Petersburg.

When you look at the style of play, the Russians play one of the more skillful styles of play in the world. They might not always have the individual talent, but they always play a very attractive style with lots of precision and passing throughout the team from the defense through to the forwards. This is exactly the type of player that Laudrup was, pure skill and class. He could do it all, set up goals, score them with the best forwards in Europe and he should make a great coach for Spartak. If anyone will get the best out of this team it will be Michael Laudrup.
