Ajax never considered an offer for Klaus Jan Huntelaar

Why? Its a simple question and you can read the article on ESPN's website. What exactly are Ajax trying to accomplish? Are they going to build a team around Huntelaar so now all of a sudden they are refusing to sell their top players? What is the plan Marco Van Basten? Huntelaar is a great talent, but 40 million Euros buys a lot of young talent to build a squad around, which seems to be the direction that they are going after watching their moves on the transfer market. Keeping a top scorer like Huntelaar when he is now entering his prime years though doesn't really make sense to me unless you really think you can make a run in Europe, not just the Eredivisie. You could spend that money on new players and still do that. However, do Ajax really have the talent to make a run in Europe over the next couple of years? Will there young players be ready to step up to the challenges that lie ahead? All are questions that will have to be answered in the coming months.
