Both Marco Van Basten and Paul Ince have begun new managerial jobs and so far have had different results. Van Basten is remaking Ajax into the club that we have all grown to know them as throughout their history. He is discarding veteran players that don't fit his vision and adding younger players that he can mold into what he hopes will be champions. I can only imagine the moves that Van Basten will continue to make as he will probably look to strengthen the Ajax youth system and develop future stars like they once did. The most interesting thing going forward will be whether Ajax will be able to hold onto any top young players that they develop. So far they have been able to keep Klaus Jan Huntelaar, which I believe is critical to their success, but what will happen if they can't. Look at the generation that just came through a few years ago - Van Der Vaart, Sneijder, and Robben, all at Real Madrid. If this starts to happen will Van Basten become frustrated with his position at Ajax and what will he do? Could he just be a manager in training for a bigger club, possibly A.C. Milan?
As for Paul Ince, well he doesn't seem to be having too much initial success, in fact his team are actually rebelling against him according to this article from Fox Sports. I must admit that I am a bit surprised that Ince wouldn't have more success at Blackburn, considering how well he did with MK Dons, but more significantly considering the type of player he was. Ince was a natural leader on the field and I would have assumed as a manager. I think there is still plenty of time to workout whatever issues may exist at the club and he may have to change his style a bit. The fact that David Bentley left to me isn't a huge factor as I think it was inevitable. It will make for interesting times though at Ewood Park.
