Here is a link to a really good analysis by Fox Sports' Jaime Trecker of the U.S. Olympic team's performance after they lost to Nigeria and are out of the tournament. It really was an overall disappointing performance by the team. They should be looking to achieve better results at this point and I agree that its time for Peter Nowak to move on. The team really needs someone who will work better with the players and help them to develop as a team and also as they move up the next level of being full U.S. internationals.
I think its time that U.S Soccer starts looking to people like John Harkes, Tab Ramos, or Marcelo Balboa as coaches so that they can develop their coaching skills, but also because they can relate to the younger American players better then anyone. They have experienced everything that these players have gone through and can provide them with invaluable experience on what its like to be on a U.S. National team at a big tournament. They can also bring their experience from playing abroad (especially Harkes) and relate to what the American players are going through - the lack of respect, the pressure of fighting for a place on the team, the difficulty of getting an opportunity at a bigger European club. John Harkes is a very good announcer, but U.S Soccer needs more from him then just good analysis of a game for ESPN.
