Brian McBride traded to the Chicago Fire

An interesting move by the Chicago Fire as they acquire the rights to Brian McBride from Toronto F.C. The Fire won't actually get to have McBride play for them until after the Olympic games are over, but that will serve as a good way to get him into game shape and ready for the stretch run and the playoffs. At 36 you do have to wonder how much time Brian McBride has left as a player and combined with Cuauhtémoc Blanco also being advanced in age some of Chicago's key players will be under a lot of pressure to show that they can still perform. Brian McBride played well last season for Fulham F.C. when he came back from injury towards the end of the season and scored some important goals to keep the team in the English Premier League. Besides the question of how much does McBride have left for this season, you also have to wonder how many more seasons he plans on playing professional soccer. Is this just a pitstop on the road to retirement like some of the other players who have come back from European soccer to play in MLS?
